PACKAGE DESIGN
A SMALL SELECTION OF PACKAGE DESIGNS FOR PRODUCTS BROUGHT TO MARKET

Over the past decade, I have created hundreds, if not thousands of packages currently being sold across the globe. Although a good portion of my past work revolved around making different kinds of STEM science and building kits, the various brands for which I have previously designed range widely in their target demographics.
Below is just a small selection of the many products brought to market.

YELLOW BORDER REBRAND
After the National Geographic STEM science line brand redesign (read the brand redesign case study here), every single Nat Geo product we offered needed updated packaging, booklets, bags, and inserts.
Thanks to the intentionally designed uniformity of the layout and callout graphics from the redesign, remaking the hundreds of packages, booklets, bags, and displays was time consuming, but a straight-forward process.

MY REDESIGN
Prior to being assigned the task of rebranding the Nat Geo product line, I was already busy designing numerous packages, products, and displays using JMW’s already established National Geographic branding.
Although I disliked the inherited aesthetics, this simple setup allowed for the extremely fast turnaround required to produce the amazing amount of output demanded, again, on an extremely tight timeline.

LEGACY DESIGN
Prior to being assigned the task of rebranding JMW’s entire Nat Geo product line, I was already busy designing numerous packages, products, and displays using JMW’s already established legacy design layout.
Although I disliked the inherited aesthetics, this simple setup allowed for the extremely fast turnaround required to produce the amazing amount of output demanded on such an extremely tight timeline.

REINVENTING LEGACY
In tandem with the massive amounts of packages, displays, sell-sheets, and adverts required for the National Geographic line of toys, Discover with Dr. Cool science kits occupied a large part of my time. While many designs were already in place, I still recreated every single box in our product line to clean up sloppy mistakes, resize existing files, update information, and rebuild the artwork using new dielines to create uniformity across the line.
Similar to the National Geographic’s legacy black bar version shown above, this “Dr. Cool” branding was already in place and I had to match any new designs to the previous style guidelines.
